Product development capabilities-based export channel selection and export performance

Purpose Drawing on the resource-based view and institutional theory, this study explores how firms select export channels to realise value of their product development capabilities (PDC) improve performance by aligning PDC, entrepreneurial orientation (EO), cultural-cognitive distance (CCID) channel selection. Design/methodology/approach This adopted a quantitative design used data collected from multiple respondents in 294 Chinese exporting ventures. Hypotheses were tested using logistic regression analysis analysis. Findings The results suggest that PDC plays vital role decisions. also show there is three-way interaction between EO CCID regarding More importantly, suggests align with contingent CCID, generate superior performance. Originality/value extends literature looking at different roles important organisational (i.e. EO) Further, it shows need exploitation selection, along capabilities, achieve better market.
